A master's job is
never done, it lives on through the ages.
Officer Installation was on January 15, 1926 and was held at the John E. Good hall where dinner and dancing was enjoyed by all after the installation. In February there was quite a discussion on removing the United States Flag the stood behind the Masters chair. It was determined however to leave well enough alone and leave the flag in its present position in the Lodge.
At some point between 1925 and March of 1926, we went from the 59th Masonic District to the 60th Masonic District. Every year the Inspector was introduced with Grand Honors and this was the first year he was introduced as the Inspector of the 60th Masonic District.
In May the big discussion was the shabby condition of the three building lots owned by the Lodge. It was agreed that the Master would have the lots cleaned in the near future.
In October, Brother's Weage and Bush made very good talks about the importance of education and the support that the Masonic Lodge should give public schools. This is something that we still do today in several ways.
In November, the first "Past Masters Night" was put on with a good time had by all. This is also another tradition that is still in use by Clovis Lodge to this day.
In December, a discussion was had about asking the landlord, Mr. Hutchinson, about installing a Ladies restroom. Up until this point it seems that there were only one restroom and that it was used by everyone. I can only assume that the ladies of the Eastern Star got tired of cleaning it before they could use it. :)
On November 21, 1942, Bro. Charles Edwin Mathews, Past Master of Clovis Lodge, was laid to rest at Clovis Cemetery. Kind words spoken of Bro. Mathews were," He will be greatly missed at our assemblies and among his friends." |
